The Canadian in me wants to start this post with an apology for having been dormant for so long, again. But the reality is, life happens. What matters is that I keep trying, and I’m here now!
To kick off a new year, I want to offer an insight update to my existing followers. Yes, I am still writing!
To all newcomers, the past won’t be relevant, but the future looks bright, so, welcome!
My book writing journey feels like it’s been a long one so far, though 15 years isn’t even a quarter of a century yet. But it’s still pushing the limits on where I’d prefer to be at this stage of my writing journey.
That said, this time has been invaluable to me. Work and life often got in the way, making everything move much slower. But I’ve learned a ton in the areas of storytelling, story structure, character and worldbuilding, publishing, and marketing.
While most of the words never saw the light of day, I’ve written seven entirely complete (and different) versions of my original story. That’s a lot of words! Each version focused on a different aspect of my learning in the craft of writing and provided invaluable practice.
I’ve now set aside all of those practice words and am buckling down to write the story I’ve always wanted to write.
This new version comes with a lot of similarities but even more differences, including name changes, new character profiles, and a deeper world.
The current working title is: Willow’s Song and it still takes place in my imagined world of Eytherfel.
It also comes with a renewed commitment to sharing more of my journey with my audience and engaging more regularly. I intend to practice what I preach in the materials I provide through PanopticFoundations.com.
In case you’re wondering, I want to mention that you are a major driving force behind my desire to write, and even casual responses from you provide motivation for me. Of course, I’ll keep going either way, but I do love hearing from you.
I’m particularly keen to know what information interests you the most, as in, what would you like me to write about on my website? Do you prefer reading snippets from the story to come? Details about my character profiles? Sneak-peeks into my worldbuilding? My writing process tips and reveals? My challenges and wins? I’d be thrilled to receive some requests, it takes the guesswork out of deciding what to write about.
You can reply to my emails, comment on posts, or connect via any of my social accounts. I look forward to hearing from you!
That’s all for now. Thank you for being here, I’m excited to see how the next leg of this journey unfolds!
